|
This build is used to solo farm Glacial Stones on Hard Mode, to get the Glacial Gauntlets. You will also get, mesmer tomes (no elite), gold things and cash.
It uses the Elementalist's elite skill Obsidian Flesh to prevent the heavy degen the Spectral Vaettir would give you, since they can't cast spells on you. Then it uses heavy damage skills to kill them. And the Mesmer's skill Mantra of Earth to reduce the damage taken, and provide lots of energy. Further more it uses Stoneflesh Aura to reduce more of the damage, leading to no damage taken.
((Check the Variants section for a version of the build, that is easy to get))
[edit] Attributes and Skills
[edit] Equipment
- Armor: Max armor, the above runes and then Geomancers Insignia on all pieces (Optional, explained below).
- Weapons: Any weapon set with an +20% enchantment mod. Energy just has to be at least 35, which shouldnt be a big problem. If you are not using Geomancers Insignia's, then you will have to take a -2 Damage While Enchated Offhand and a +20% enchantment Single Handed Weapon. Because of this, it is possilbe to use your Normal Armor for this build, as long as you have a Earth Headset and Sup Rune.
[edit] Usage
- Start at Longeye's Ledge and run to Jaga Moraine. You should be able to avoid all monsters
- ((If you trigger a Frost Worm, run away and cast Stoneflesh Aura in a secure distance, it reduces the Wormbile's damage from 40 to 7.))
- When entered Jaga Moraine, talk to the Norn guy, and get the hunt.
- Now you should cast Glyph of Swiftness followed by Obsidian Flesh, Stoneflesh Aura, and Mantra of Earth.
- Now aggro as many foes as you can.
- When you see that Stoneflesh Aura is nearly recharged, cast Glyph of Swiftness and then Stoneflesh Aura, and Obsidian Flesh when it's recharged.
- When you aggroed all monsters there are, or you don't want to aggro more, cast Ether Nightmare followed with Cry of Pain and then Teinai's Crystals and Crystal Wave. Just keep repeating that, but remember to use Ether Nightmare, before you use Cry of Pain!
- Repeat re-casting Glyph of Swiftness-->Stoneflesh Aura-->Obsidian Flesh-->Mantra of Earth as needed.
- Just keep spamming your waves and Nightmare/Cry and everything will be dead. Pick up your loot and rezone.
[edit] Variants
- The other, more easy to obtain version of this build is, replacing Ether Nightmare and Cry of Pain with Arcane Echo and Sliver Armor. Your damage will be reduced, but it's much easier to get.
- You can switch Arcane Echo for Light of Deldrimor if you have a high enough rank in the Deldrimor Title track.
- Arcane Echo is good to mirror Teinai's Crystals so you can use them alternatively, but when it comes to skill casting, Arcane Echo still takes 2 seconds to cast. Therefore it can be argued that Teinai's Crystals and Crystal Wave could be used one after the other, and even in replacement of Sliver Armor for higher damage output and reduced casting times. This is good for Elementalists as they can have 16 attribute points in Earth Magic for maximum effect.
- You can switch professions and go Mesmer primary. With a high Sunspear rank it would be best to take the Ether Nightmare/Cry of Pain variant, because you won't be able to get 16 attribute points in Earth Magic. Be wary of your Obsidian Flesh though, you have about 1 second vulnerability to spells. This should be enough considering the casting time of the spells of the Vaettir. If degen does get through, you'll have enough health and time to sit out the degen. However if you pack Glyph of Swiftness into your skill bar with a minimum of 4 attribute points in Air Magic, and cast Glyph of Swiftness before Obsidian Flesh, the vulnerability can be removed.
- Replace Sliver Armor for intensity and use Intensity, Arcane Echo, Crystal Wave, Echo'd Crystal wave and Teinai's Crystals if you cast the chain fast enough you should be able to cast all 3 skills while intensity is still applied.
[edit] Notes
- Energy will never be a problem when in fight, since you will get 2 energy for every hit they make.
- It is a bad idea to use aftershock. The Spectral Vaettirs have 160 armor against elemental damage, causing aftershock to deal about 19 damage, even at 16 EM. The crystals however, deal armor ignoring damage.
- Spectral Vaettir's attacks deal earth damage, causing Mantra of Earth to trigger.
