[edit] Usage

  • Run to the boss using Dark Escape, or, for the most difficult runs ( even if longer with this method ), a group of henchmen. When you arrive next to the boss send them away from radar range.
  • When you are just out of aggro, activate Glyph of Elemental Power, Shadow Form and use Death's Charge to teleport in. Usually aggroing before teleporting in makes enemies clump together, giving Sliver Armor less of a chance to target the boss.
  • Activate Ebon Battle Standard of Honor.
  • Then activate Sliver Armor followed by Intensity. Make sure you are closer to the boss than anything else, or you will not kill it! If Sliver Armor ends up targeting the wrong foe, try stepping away and then back to the boss, this will often give you the desired effect.
  • Spam Obsidian Flame on recharge.
  • Just after the boss is dead, activate Shadow Form and use the speed buffs to run away to safety. You can use Shadow Form again since Morale Boosts recharges all skills.

[edit] Counters

[edit] Variants

  • Caltrops is useful against bosses who attempt to flee when heavily damaged.
  • Feigned Neutrality and/or Shadow Refuge is useful against groups which have mobs with touch skills which penetrate Shadow Form and is also required for the run to some bosses.
  • You may also use Shock, Aftershock, & Teinai's Crystals in that order. Shock is a great interrupt on many bosses who cast their healing spells first to negate Sliver Armor.
  • Shadow of Haste serves to give you an emergency out and is particularly useful when learning the build, taking the 'error' out of 'trial and error'. This serves particularly well when attempting to master a series of difficult bosses in a single run, such as the monk-mesmer-elementalist-necro constructs in Sunjiang District Explorable. Be warned - the speed boost offered by the skill makes pulling groups more difficult.
  • You Move Like a Dwarf! is a great knockdown/interrupt. It also doubles as a snare for bosses that like to run.
  • Finish Him! is great to not only lower the boss's high AL, but deal a quick bit of damage and deep wound.

[edit] Notes

  • Sometimes the skill Sliver Armor may start hitting other enemies instead of the boss and may change targets.
  • If you have more than three melee opponents attacking you, the one being hit by Sliver Armor may flee.
  • You can defeat mobs on the way to bosses as well as bosses using this build, so if the boss is covered by a big big mob you can't handle, or something annoying is in your way, the build works for it too.
  • If your still learning, swap out Glyph of Elemental Power for Death's Retreat bring a hero and flag them a bit away from the boss and the battle your going to take, if you think your in trouble, run and use Death's Retreat on the flagged hero, then both of you run, this is a nice way to break aggro.
  • Some of the bosses listed can be killed in NM without the use of Ebon Battle Standard of Honor by using Tenai's Crystals, or alternative Crystal Wave if you dont have access to the EOTN campaign or your Ebon Vanguard reputation is at a very low rank, on the other hand alot of the bosses on the list both in normal mode and hard mode cannot be killed without a high rank (work on your titles to make your character a more efficient farmer).

[edit] Monk (E)
  • Healing Prayers
    • MonkThe Scar Eater - Very Easy In Hard mode this boss is easy to farm if you aggro all 3 of the surrounding groups (including his). Then you will have enough monsters for Silver Armor. Bringing Shock will also make it easier as opposed to the traditional Obsidian Flame.
[edit] Necromancer (N)

[edit] Nightfall

32 Current Bosses

[edit] Dervish (D)
[edit] Warrior (W)
  • Axe Mastery
    • WarriorChor the Bladed - Easy (move to that rock on his right and bring the pop-ups to him, don't cast Silver armour until he uses Frenzy, he should die in 5 seconds after that, if he didn't cast frenzy within 4 seconds, just move out to top right, and do it again) (can also be done in hardmode, but he dosen't use frenzy then)
    • Warrior Colonel Chaklin - Easy/Medium Requires a good pull of both the group at the bottom of the steps and the group infront of him to provide enough damage to take him down (if either of these groups has a priest dont bother).
  • Hammer Mastery
    • WarriorGrabthar the Overbearing - Easy Cast your enchants and engage, can kill with or without the harpy group and does not matter if there are healers, he dies very fast
    • WarriorRiktund the Vicious - Easy/Medium (Go from Mihanu Township and wait till the rain beetles have moved to the right. Jump in when Riktund's mob meets the second rain beetles patrol.
  • Swordsmanship
    • WarriorMahto Sharptooth - Easy kill use all skills, if he does not die on first cast of your Sliver Armor, run straight out back down the river, wait for your Shadow Form to recharge, recast and finish him off.
[edit] Monk (Mo)
  • Smiting Prayers
    • MonkFlame of Fervor - Easy Wait for patrol of Rain of Terrors to join his mob, then aggro all up and teleport in for an easy kill. Make sure to use Dark Escape to prevent death. Do not aggro the Titans as they take preference over the boss for Sliver Armor.
[edit] Elementalist (E)
[edit] Mesmer (Me)
[edit] Paragon (P)
[edit] Necromancer (N)
[edit] Assasin (A)
[edit] Ritualist (Rt)
[edit] Ranger (R)
  • Marksmanship
    • Ranger Zelnehlun Fastfoot - Easy Attack when the group spawns or wait and pull back up the hill or accross the bridge, the boss will die quickly either way.
  • Beast Mastery
    • Ranger Bolten Largebelly - Hard This boss requires a couple of groups to be pulled from nearby and also some degree of luck as targeting can be an issue, Troll Ungent can be interupted by Shock but is not needed if you have high rank titles.

[edit] Eye of the North

4 Current Bosses

[edit] Elementalist (E)
[edit] Ranger (R)
[edit] Warrior (W)
  • Swordsmanship
    • Warrior Paragon Fenrir - Medium/Hard Targeting can be a very big issue (alot of luck involved as you cant move much once you get surrounded which happens nearly instantly), before agroing any groups cast enchants then use Dark Escape to get to the boss quicker, once you engage you have very little chance of escaping, if a number of the Kveldulf are dead this gets alot harder, once Fenrir is the target of Sliver Armor he dies fast.
  • Hammer Mastery
    • Warrior Baglorag Grumblesnort - Easy/Medium Pull one of the groups along his patrol route to him to maximise Sliver Armor damage, using Dark Escape you can get out of agro very easy, charging Sliver Armor and engaging again as quickly as possible if you cant kill him on the first cast (dont use Pinesoul there damage is to slow, other groups of Jotun are ideal, especially if you can pull two groups at once).

[edit] NOTE

These videos were taken prior to the Shadow Form skill adjustement. The skills shown in the videos and the bosses that were farmed may no longer work as the damage of Sliver Armor is now greatly reduced but they still give a good indication of how the build functions.
