From PvXwiki
| |
The PvXwiki community finds this to be an excellent build. Through the PvX vetting system, it has reached an overall rating in the range from 4.5 to 5.0 and thus qualifies for the highest category of working builds: Great. This build has been designed for the following use: |
|
This build utilizes the elite Shadow Arts skill Shadow Form and the earth magic skill Sliver Armor to quickly take down bosses that are accompanied by medium/large mobs to efficiently farm their green items.
[edit] Attributes and skills
[edit] Equipment
- Armor with Radiant Insignia
- Enchantments last 20% longer weapon. However, at 16 Earth Magic and 12 Shadow Arts, a 15%-19% upgrade will also provide the same extended durations for Sliver Armor and Shadow Form as a 20% upgrade.
- Arius' Sai or Chimor's Daggers are recommended Daggers.
- Galigord's Stone Staff is a recommended Staff.
- Totem Axe/Rajazan's Fervor + Galigord's Stone Scroll are also recommended. Earth Scrolls with identical stats as Galigord's can be found at Collector Ohtah in the Undercity (5 Plague Idols) or Collector Denos Makaluum in Vasburg Armory (5 Stone Horns). Droajam's Storm is also very similar to Galigord's Stone Scroll (and may be preferable depending on what you are farming).
[edit] Usage
- Run to the boss using Dark Escape, or, for the most difficult runs ( even if longer with this method ), a group of henchmen. When you arrive next to the boss send them away from radar range.
- When you are just out of aggro, activate Glyph of Elemental Power, Shadow Form and use Death's Charge to teleport in. Usually aggroing before teleporting in makes enemies clump together, giving Sliver Armor less of a chance to target the boss.
- Activate Ebon Battle Standard of Honor.
- Then activate Sliver Armor followed by Intensity. Make sure you are closer to the boss than anything else, or you will not kill it! If Sliver Armor ends up targeting the wrong foe, try stepping away and then back to the boss, this will often give you the desired effect.
- Spam Obsidian Flame on recharge.
- Just after the boss is dead, activate Shadow Form and use the speed buffs to run away to safety. You can use Shadow Form again since Morale Boosts recharges all skills.
[edit] Counters
- Shadow Form doesn't protect against signets, touch skills, traps and Area of Effect damage, but you can not be the target of AoE damage.
- Shadow Form will be removed by foes using Expunge Enchantments.
- A Dervish boss with Intimidating Aura and Chilling Victory will hit through and remove Shadow Form. Even though the initial attack will miss, the conditional damage will hit, thus triggering Intimidating Aura and removing your most recent enchantment. Bring a Cover Enchantment like Aura of Restoration and cast it AFTER Shadow Form and Sliver Armor.
[edit] Variants
- Obsidian Flame and Dark Escape may be switched out for other skills, depending on what you are farming.
- When fighting Warrior bosses, such as Sunreach Warmaker, it helps to use Rust so that his Healing Signet takes 2 times as long to cast. To do this, though, you will be required to take one point off of Energy Storage and put it into Water Magic.
- Caltrops is useful against bosses who attempt to flee when heavily damaged.
- Feigned Neutrality and/or Shadow Refuge is useful against groups which have mobs with touch skills which penetrate Shadow Form and is also required for the run to some bosses.
- You may also use Shock, Aftershock, & Teinai's Crystals in that order. Shock is a great interrupt on many bosses who cast their healing spells first to negate Sliver Armor.
- Shadow of Haste serves to give you an emergency out and is particularly useful when learning the build, taking the 'error' out of 'trial and error'. This serves particularly well when attempting to master a series of difficult bosses in a single run, such as the monk-mesmer-elementalist-necro constructs in Sunjiang District Explorable. Be warned - the speed boost offered by the skill makes pulling groups more difficult.
- See variant Build:E/A Gloom Farmer for farming gemstones in Gloom.
- You Move Like a Dwarf! is a great knockdown/interrupt. It also doubles as a snare for bosses that like to run.
- Finish Him! is great to not only lower the boss's high AL, but deal a quick bit of damage and deep wound.
[edit] Notes
- Sometimes the skill Sliver Armor may start hitting other enemies instead of the boss and may change targets.
- If you have more than three melee opponents attacking you, the one being hit by Sliver Armor may flee.
- You can defeat mobs on the way to bosses as well as bosses using this build, so if the boss is covered by a big big mob you can't handle, or something annoying is in your way, the build works for it too.
- If your still learning, swap out Glyph of Elemental Power for Death's Retreat bring a hero and flag them a bit away from the boss and the battle your going to take, if you think your in trouble, run and use Death's Retreat on the flagged hero, then both of you run, this is a nice way to break aggro.
- Some of the bosses listed can be killed in NM without the use of Ebon Battle Standard of Honor by using Tenai's Crystals, or alternative Crystal Wave if you dont have access to the EOTN campaign or your Ebon Vanguard reputation is at a very low rank, on the other hand alot of the bosses on the list both in normal mode and hard mode cannot be killed without a high rank (work on your titles to make your character a more efficient farmer).

[edit] Prophecies
0 Current Bosses
[edit] Factions
3 Current Boss
[edit] Monk (E)
- Healing Prayers
The Scar Eater - Very Easy In Hard mode this boss is easy to farm if you aggro all 3 of the surrounding groups (including his). Then you will have enough monsters for Silver Armor. Bringing Shock will also make it easier as opposed to the traditional Obsidian Flame.
[edit] Necromancer (N)
- Deatch Magic
Sessk, Woe Spreader - Very Easy In Hard mode this boss is easy to farm.
- Blood Magic
Cultist Milthuran - Very Easy In normal mode this boss is easy to farm and a very short run.
[edit] Nightfall
32 Current Bosses
[edit] Dervish (D)
- Earth Prayers
Corporal Suli - Hard Depending on the group this is either a relativley straight forward kill or alot more difficult. If there are Kournan Priest kill them first, if there are Kournan Scribe who are casting Aftershock and you are dying you will have to try to kill them as well, if Corporal Suli uses Pious Renewal you will not always be successfull (use the group below the bridge for extra damage, once you reach to high DP Mystic Twister will one shot you).
- Mysticism
Vahlen the Silent - Very Hard Replace Death's Charge with Shadow of Haste. You need to recast Sliver Armor at least two times to kill the boss using Dark Escape just as Sliver Armor runs out (you need to pre-cast enchants and pull the boss to you, hope you dont get interupted as this means you will have to start over - timing is very important as you want to maximise your damage, usually no targeting issues occur as the boss will always be closest to you).
[edit] Warrior (W)
- Axe Mastery
Chor the Bladed - Easy (move to that rock on his right and bring the pop-ups to him, don't cast Silver armour until he uses Frenzy, he should die in 5 seconds after that, if he didn't cast frenzy within 4 seconds, just move out to top right, and do it again) (can also be done in hardmode, but he dosen't use frenzy then)
Colonel Chaklin - Easy/Medium Requires a good pull of both the group at the bottom of the steps and the group infront of him to provide enough damage to take him down (if either of these groups has a priest dont bother).
- Hammer Mastery
Grabthar the Overbearing - Easy Cast your enchants and engage, can kill with or without the harpy group and does not matter if there are healers, he dies very fast
Riktund the Vicious - Easy/Medium (Go from Mihanu Township and wait till the rain beetles have moved to the right. Jump in when Riktund's mob meets the second rain beetles patrol.
- Swordsmanship
Mahto Sharptooth - Easy kill use all skills, if he does not die on first cast of your Sliver Armor, run straight out back down the river, wait for your Shadow Form to recharge, recast and finish him off.
[edit] Monk (Mo)
- Smiting Prayers
Flame of Fervor - Easy Wait for patrol of Rain of Terrors to join his mob, then aggro all up and teleport in for an easy kill. Make sure to use Dark Escape to prevent death. Do not aggro the Titans as they take preference over the boss for Sliver Armor.
[edit] Elementalist (E)
- Energy Storage
Birneh Skybringer - Very Easy (Lots of mobs for Sliver Armor to work) great practice one of the easiest to farm
- Water Magic
Lushivahr the Invoker - Easy/Medium The only difficulty in this boss is getting to him but once you do you can use the bridge behind to drop agro and there is a Ressurection Shrines nearby (using heros makes this boss alot easier to get to).
Bosun Mohrti - Easy Run to Frigid Kuskale (you will be getting hit by Bladed Veldt Termite but damage is minimal) just before you reach them cast your enchants and engage the boss.
- Earth Magic
Hajok Earthguardian - Very Easy Use Wehhan Terraces outpost to run to the bridge and Ressurection Shrines killing any guards on this side of the bridge, run to the middle of the bridge to re-cast and engage, use the group of Kournan Military to assist (a priest will not matter the boss dies to quickly)
- Fire Magic
Korshek the Immolated - Very Easy Plenty of enemies for Sliver Armor will make this a fast kill
[edit] Mesmer (Me)
- Illusion Magic
Eshim Mindclouder - Very Easy (Lots of mobs for Sliver Armor to work) great practice one of the easiest to farm
Makdeh The Aggrevating - Easy Use the Rock Beetle group nearby if you dont have enough damage (kill all the guards on the way so you can use Dark Escape to drop agro).
- Domination Magic
Captain Chichor - Very Easy The bosses group is large, so wait for the patrol to be in a good spot then engage.
Yammiron, Ether Lord - Very Easy Either in normal or hardmode this boss dies very quickly (as a note even though boss recieves Resurrection, if you kill again you will not get skills recharged or any further items).
[edit] Paragon (P)
- Spear Mastery
Corporal Luluh - Easy Aggro the two mobs in front of the fortress main door. If there is a priest, kill him first and come back later.
Eshau Longspear - Medium/Hard Need to also agro the group of Tusked Howler and one group of Mandragor (they will hit through Shadow Form so more than one group will kill you).
- Command
Briahn the Chosen - Easy/Medium Hard to survive this kill as you need to pull the Enchanted Brambles to have enough damage, but this causes you to suffer Conditions and steady health degeneration.
Lieutenant Shagu - Medium Lots of enemies surrounding boss makes this a quick kill (although doctors and conditions can cause problems) with a very easy run.
[edit] Necromancer (N)
- Curses
Tain the Corruptor - Easy If you have just killed Makdeh the Aggravating this boss is alot easier as you can recast your Shadow Form and use both groups to take him down quickly (he does have Corrupt Enchantment so you may not always be successfull when using this method).
Modti Darkflower - Very Easy Lots of mobs for Sliver Armor, be carefull of poison degeneration using Death's Charge to bring your health back up after boss is dead.
Shelboh The Ravenous - Easy Running in and causing the Mandragor to spawn first, then running out and recasting will allow for Sliver Armor to do more damage and take the boss down, there is also a group of Tusked Howler next to the boss you can use.
- Death Magic
Terob Roundback - Easy/Medium Depends entirely on the spawn of the two Heket groups. If you get Blue Tounge Heket in Terob Roundback group your better to just re-zone and try again, if it is in the other group you can kill it and then pull this group to the boss for an easy kill (targeting issues can happen if there is to much Heket attacking you).
[edit] Assasin (A)
- Dagger Mastery
Lunto Sharpfoot - Hard solo, Easy with hero/hench First you have to treat the two Veldt Beetle Queen that are part of his group like a boss and kill each one of them (if you do this solo it's extremely hard to keep targeting on them, you could use hench/hero for this as it's alot quicker), use the surrounding Plants if you need the extra damage.
Major Jeahr - Easy If engaging from Kodonur Crossroads side of the bridge and there is a guard, kill it first or kite it back then run to middle of bridge to drop agro, after this Major Jeahr group does plenty of damage with Sliver Armor and Ebon Battle Standard of Honor
Admiral Kaya - Hard Solo, Medium with hero/hench If doing this solo you need to first kill the Blue Tongue Heket then you can kill the boss (Corsair Doctor can be a problem on some kills if you dont also kill this target), you will not always have an easy escape as you will be under the effects of Corsair's Net. Admrial Kaya will use Death's Retreat but return very quickly and Sliver Armor will go straight back onto the boss finishing him off.
[edit] Ritualist (Rt)
- Channeling Magic
Podaltur The Angry - Easy Plenty of Heket to pull to the boss makes this a fast and easy kill (if you have targeting trouble kill off a couple of the Heket until you are just left with range or the boss is now being targeted, the damage is still sufficient for a kill).
- Spawning Magic
Churahm, Spirit Warrior - Easy You can either Death's Charge down to one of the Sapphire Djinn and then use Dark Escape to the boss or run around when the Roaring Ether are patrolling below (this method may cause Shadow Form to run out to soon if you dont pull enough groups to the boss quickly enough or have targeting issues).
[edit] Ranger (R)
- Marksmanship
Zelnehlun Fastfoot - Easy Attack when the group spawns or wait and pull back up the hill or accross the bridge, the boss will die quickly either way.
- Beast Mastery
Bolten Largebelly - Hard This boss requires a couple of groups to be pulled from nearby and also some degree of luck as targeting can be an issue, Troll Ungent can be interupted by Shock but is not needed if you have high rank titles.
[edit] Eye of the North
4 Current Bosses
[edit] Elementalist (E)
- Water Magic
Elsnil Frigidheart - Very Easy Very good boss to get some experience on in Guild Wars Eye of the North if your just starting out with this build (HM is also easy but requires a higher rank in titles for more damage).
[edit] Ranger (R)
- Marksmanship
Johon the Oxflinger - Easy/Medium Requires a good pull of the Mandragor if you are low in either Ebon Vanguard or Sunspear Rank as you will not be doing enough damage before Sliver Armor expires. There are both patrols to the left and right you can use and if you are having trouble with boss using Troll Ungent bring Shock to interupt (as a side note this boss goes down alot faster with the http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Mo_330_Elementalist build , but should you be interupted while casting enchant you will die, unlike E/A build).
[edit] Warrior (W)
- Swordsmanship
Fenrir - Medium/Hard Targeting can be a very big issue (alot of luck involved as you cant move much once you get surrounded which happens nearly instantly), before agroing any groups cast enchants then use Dark Escape to get to the boss quicker, once you engage you have very little chance of escaping, if a number of the Kveldulf are dead this gets alot harder, once Fenrir is the target of Sliver Armor he dies fast.
- Hammer Mastery
Baglorag Grumblesnort - Easy/Medium Pull one of the groups along his patrol route to him to maximise Sliver Armor damage, using Dark Escape you can get out of agro very easy, charging Sliver Armor and engaging again as quickly as possible if you cant kill him on the first cast (dont use Pinesoul there damage is to slow, other groups of Jotun are ideal, especially if you can pull two groups at once).

These videos were taken prior to the Shadow Form skill adjustement. The skills shown in the videos and the bosses that were farmed may no longer work as the damage of Sliver Armor is now greatly reduced but they still give a good indication of how the build functions.
